Bio / info
Since the late 90s, Michael Allison has been at the forefront of the new ambient/electronic music scene. Michael began his music career as a singer and bassist, playing throughout the 80’s in groups such as Nona Hendryx & Zero Cool, China Shop, Richard Hell and The Voidoids and his own group, Empty House. In 1992 Allison decided to quit working in bands to concentrate solely on his own compositions, music that was mostly inspired by his studies in yoga meditation and other spiritual disciplines. The name Darshan Ambient comes from those adventures in self realization: The word Darshan is a Sanskrit Hindu term meaning sight or a glimpse of the divine. Michael’s pop and tock roots have played an indelible role in shaping the music he would eventually compose as an ambient artist, and Allison’s lush melodies and chordal sensibilities have a powerful emotional impact that stays with the listener long after the CD ends.
