Barış Manço was a Turkish rock singer, songwriter and TV host (b. 2 January 1943, Istanbul - d. 1 February 1999). His mother Rikkat Uyanık was a famous Turkish singer in the 40s. Living in Paris during the 60s, he started a band called Les Mistigris. With a string of groundbreaking albums in the 70s, he is considered one of the most influential pop artists of Turkey. He died suddenly of a heart attack in 1999.
