Dave Newhouse (born in Hawaii in 1953) was a founding member of The Muffins in 1973, and participated in the group during its various incarnations until the final dissolution in 2016. Newhouse has also collaborated with a large number of other artists, including Fred Frith, Rascal Reporters, Guapo, and more. Manna / Mirage is essentially a Dave Newhouse band project modeled on the original AmeriCanterbury sound that The Muffine produced on their first few albums. Muffins Billy Swann and Paul Sears contribute, as well as George Newhouse (Dave's son), plus other musicians.
