The German band Octopus was formed in 1973 by Claus Kniemeyer (bass), Pit Hensel (guitar), Jennifer Hensel (vocals), Werner Littau (keyboards), and Dieter Becke (drums). The band recorded a pair of well-regarded progressive rock albums, before a series of personnel changes and a stylistic shift to more commercial sounds. The band lasted until 1983.
